Bubble Fun with Spectrum Aqua Markers

This is a fun technique for adding color and texture to your creations, using Spectrum Aqua markers and an inexpensive bubble blowing set.  You may prefer to make your own bubbles.

A square of Crafter’s Companion watercolor card is cut to measure approx. 5.5” x 5.5”.  This will be the background for your card.

Attach this to a larger sheet of basic printer paper using masking tape, to create an edge for the project.  The card is given a coat of clean water, as this will help your bubbles to adhere.

Paint a small amount of Spectrum Aqua marker – Marine onto you palette and add about ten drops of bubble mixture, blending well.

Pick up the ink/bubble mixture with your bubble wand and blow gently or shake the wand to create different sized and textured ink bubbles.

Repeat the procedure with Spectrum Aqua marker – Moss, to create bubbles and detail of a contrasting color tone.

step1 (3)

When the bubble lands on the watercolor card, it creates circles of color.  This will be absorbed by your card when the bubble burst.

A final layer of colored circles is added using Spectrum Aqua marker – Meadow and ten drops of you bubble mixture.  This is applied to the watercolor card using your bubble wand.

To add extra definition to this project a stamp from the Crafter’s Companion Texture Stamps – Walls and Corners set is inked directly using Spectrum Aqua marker – Kingfisher.

When this has been applied to your project, remove the side masking tape strips and your background card is ready to be added to your creation.

The painted card is mounted onto a mat of Core’dinations card and various stamps from Crafter’s Companion, Sheena Douglass range have been added to decorate the card.

I hope that you have enjoyed this fun tutorial and that you will find it useful.
